CORONAVIRUS HEALTH UPDATE

FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS

Following advice and direction from the Australian Government Department of Health, we must make significant changes to our operations.

We work on the front line and must take these steps to not only ensure the safety of our staff, but also the vulnerable families we interact with every day.

The COVID-19 pandemic is a severe threat to our community and we all need to play our part in slowing the spread.

Therefore, we ask for your cooperation in not attending services or arrangements if you have any symptoms of illness - even the slightest sore throat. We ask for the same cooperation if you have been in contact with a person diagnosed with COVID-19 within the previous 14 days.

SOME CHANGES WE HAVE MADE TO OUR FUNERAL ARRAGEMENT PROCESS WHILST THE PANDEMIC UNFOLDS WITH YOUR SAFTEY IN MIND

Presently we ask that you please consider the way in which your family would like to meet with us to make funeral arrangements. We have the capability to conduct arrangements by a number of means. If you make contact with Finney’s presently we will discuss the options for making funeral arrangements with you to limit personal contact with your safety and that of the community in mind

These include:-

  • Over the phone,
  • Phone and/or video link.
  • Electronically by email.

Whilst the above means limit personal contact we want to ensure the safety of our staff and the community. Rest assured we will provide the families with high-quality funeral care and practical advice on arranging funerals with regard to the unfolding pandemic.

In certain circumstances the above means may not be possible or practical. We do know that COVID-19 spreads through close contact with an infected person, mostly face-to-face and in this regard we ask you to consider and minimise your risk of exposure. We ask you during this time to speak with your family in order you can consider the number of family members coming into to the funeral home to make arrangements.

Our website provides valuable information in preparing for a funeral. We are able to consult with you over the phone and via email to ensure you have all available information in order to make arrangements. Alternatively you are able to come into our office via appointment.

It is important to remember all elements of our service can be delivered without face to face contact in a manner that is personal to your circumstance. Talk to our funeral directors in relation to any concerns you have in relation to the unfolding situation.

We have the ability to livestream services anywhere in the world to ensure family members are not alone, and family are still able to be part of the funeral service.

We understand that these measures are especially difficult during a time of grief, where personal contact is a natural way to show care and support.  Again, we do know that COVID-19 spreads through close contact with an infected person, mostly face-to-face and in this regard we ask you to consider and minimise your risk of exposure.

Despite the unprecedented situation we all find ourselves in, please rest assured that we are here to guide you and assist anyone during this time. If you have any question in relation to planning for a funeral, please make contact with us. As circumstances with regard to the pandemic unfold, we are here to help.

Sincerely

Mark Graham
